Overview

Road to Black Belt ("RTBB", "we", "us") is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training tracker. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information: email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), name, date of birth, and an optional profile photo.

Training data: training sessions, techniques, sparring rounds, weekly reflections, belt promotions, and weight logs you enter.

Competition data: tournaments, brackets, and match results you log, including any opponent names or team names you choose to enter.

Gym & location data: if you search for or enter a home gym, we store the gym name and address (resolved via Google Places).

Photos you upload: profile photos and tournament bracket screenshots you choose to import.

How we use AI

RTBB uses Anthropic's Claude models to power several features: session recap summaries, technique recommendations, week-by-week competition camp plans, and extracting match data from bracket screenshots you upload. The relevant training data (and, for bracket import, the screenshot image) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate these results, subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. Bracket screenshot images are processed to extract match data and are not stored by RTBB after that — only the extracted text (names, results) is saved to your account.

Other service providers

We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate RTBB:

  • Supabase — database hosting (Postgres)
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Anthropic — AI features described above
  • Resend — transactional email (password resets)
  • Google Maps Places API — gym search/autocomplete
  • Google and Apple — optional social sign-in, if you choose to use it

How we protect your data

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored or logged in plain text. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with third parties beyond the service providers above, which only process it on our behalf to operate the app.

Your rights

You can edit or delete most of your data directly in the app. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, sessions, techniques, competitions, camps, and every other record tied to your account, and cannot be undone.

Children's privacy

RTBB is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
